Dr. Hoda Hosseini, DMD, MDent (Perio), FRCD(C)

Dr. Hosseini is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She earned her dental degree from the University of Manitoba in 2006 and worked as a general practitioner in both Ottawa and Winnipeg.

In 2008 she combined her passion for traveling with her desire to provide care for the less fortunate, and participated in the Remote Access Program to provide dental care for under-serviced First Nation community in Northern Manitoba. This humbling experience made her realize the true value of patient education. Knowing that by advancing her knowledge she would become a better adviser to her patients, she went back to school in 2009 in order to obtain her Masters of Dentistry in Periodontics & Implant surgery from the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Hosseini is a board certified periodontist and a published author in the field of Peri-implant disease. She practices in full periodontal spectrum with special interests in esthetic and functional rehabilitation using dental implants and reconstructive surgeries.

Dr. Hosseini is passionate about teaching and has been involved with clinical teaching at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Western Ontario. She lectures extensively and is involved with implant training programs for dental professionals.

Dr. Hosseini is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Fellow of International Congress of Oral Implantologist, a member of the Canadian and American Academy of Periodontists and Canadian Dental Association.

When not practicing, Dr. Hosseini and her husband enjoy traveling to experience other cultures and meet new people. She enjoys going to the theater and eagerly takes part when provided with the opportunity. In 2013 she happily acted as ‘Mimi’ in the Manitoba Dental Association all-dentist musical production of ‘Guys and Dolls’ and is also a cast member in the 2017 production of ‘Lucky Stiff”.

Dr. Hosseini is dedicated to superior patient care that is founded on clear and open communication with her referring doctors and timely access to care for her patients. She welcomes your referrals and appreciates the opportunity to work with you in improving your patient’s oral health and healthy smile.

Doctor intro - Dr. Mo FINAL

The most important thing is the quality of work.

I was born, brought up, and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. I was accepted at McGill University and I knew, my family, my siblings were already in Canada and that was an amazing opportunity. So, I was accepted by the University of British Columbia, known as the UBC, in Vancouver. I did my second Master’s there. Then I did my Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. I was amongst the top two per cent residents across North America. So, that was pretty exciting.

So, periodontist is a dental specialist who specialises in bone, gum, teeth, and implant surgeries. Somebody rightly said that periodontists are like the plastic surgeon of the oral cavity, the very fine and precise skills set that you use to try and save teeth or restore the lost architecture, be it the hard tissue or the soft tissue, is perhaps the part that I really enjoy in my field of work.

When it comes to the practice philosophy, the most important thing is that patient is first, the most important person. Be it good health, wellbeing, or the optimisation of the treatment outcomes, and equally important is the quality of work. There’s no compromise on work quality. That, I think, would form the very foundation of core of our principles.

I don’t think of referrals as referring dentists to restoring dentists. I think of them as colleagues, as team players. Be it my restoring dentist, referring dentist, or the lab tech – we are all part of a team, with one goal, one agenda: How can we provide the absolute best treatment to our patient?

The most gratifying thing is the fact that I know that I do the best that I can to help my patients. That is, by far, hands down, the best part of my job.

For those of you who would like to see my work, I post my cases, my surgical cases, almost on a daily basis. You can see about 300 or 400 surgery cases. So anybody who wants to check my work out can easily do that.
